Social media is a term we hear just about every 15 minutes and I wondered if some online users have become a bit numb to the importance of this. Do we fully understand the benefits of social media and how powerful this truly is? Used within a well thought out strategy, social media can bring loads of traffic to your site as you continue your brand building activities.
In this post, I will briefly cover some of the many benefits of social media in hopes of enlightening some and reminding others.
Branding
Want to build your brand? The use of social media sites like Twitter and Facebook are an absolute must as they expose you to massive amounts of potential traffic for your own site. Using these low-cost, high-value methods of promotion can pay off again and again, as many of your site’s visitors become regular readers and long-term customers. The upside for gaining recognition and developing a continued marketing relationship is tremendous.
Increase your traffic
It is pretty obvious that using social media will increase your traffic and pageviews. The more people that see your links, the more that will follow those links and land on your site. Rather than sitting back and waiting to be found via the search engines, you are placing an exit ramp on the information highway for people to come directly to what you have to offer.
The benefits of this approach are many.
- Increase your readership.
- Increase your subscribers.
- Increase incoming links.
- Increase your authority.
- Increase the opportunity for a post going viral.
- Near instant payoff
- Establish relationships, some of which may lead to other business opportunities.
- And much more.
There are so many great things that can occur because of this increase in traffic that it becomes an oversight to not use social media. Too many positive things can happen so why leave these opportunities on the table?
Potential Long-term effects
Now suppose one of your articles caught fire and landed on the front page of a social news or bookmarking site like Sphinn or Del.icio.us. The floodgates could open and lift you and your site to new heights, providing incoming valuable links for weeks or even months into the future. This could be the single event in your blogging career that changed everything.
Would this be considered smart planning or just dumb luck? No doubt opinions will land on both sides, but so what, you’re an authority now.
The point I’m making is this, none of this would have happened, or even has a remote chance of happening unless you are out there using social media. You can’t expect to win the lottery without ever buying a ticket.
Conclusion
There are more reasons to make use of social media sites and techniques than there are against it, as the upside for you gaining benefits is just too great to ignore. Yet there are still some businesses that are slow to embrace this, which frankly is beyond me but hey, it’s their business.
For a blogger who wants to find success, develop some sort of social media strategy and get out there and Mixx it up. Let your Face be seen and build your brand recognition and authority. You may become a Six-Figure Blogger. Even if you Stumble around a bit, it’s better than taking no action whatsoever. You could someday say What a Website! Can you Digg it?
Keep Blogging!
