A plan for success is mandatory for any business. Failing to have one with a clear path can waste a lot of valuable time. Now let’s face it, developing business plans is not something most look forward to doing, but they are highly effective.

As we were growing up, it was instilled in us that if you worked hard and continued to do so, everything would eventually fall into place. While that may have been true the majority of the time back then, that approach is just not good enough in today’s environment.

To make better use of your energy, a tightly focused plan is required and if you do not have one, the path to success will simply be that more difficult to locate. When you really think about it, a goal without a plan for success is really little more than a wish.

Consider the difficulties in achieving your daily plans for instance. Without a mapped out strategy for the day, I will likely miss something that I had intended to get done, that is just the way it is. So what chance have I of succeeding long-term when I need a plan on the daily?

I would venture to say that there are hundreds and perhaps thousands of new bloggers coming online daily to begin their journey toward success without a plan for how to reach their goal.

Now this is not to say that you must have a plan the very day you arrive online, although that would be nice. But many may need to blog for a period of time and test the waters, try different approaches and discover their online passions in that manner.

At some point, like the moment you determine your niche, your passion, and have decided “this is it”, turn to a sheet of blank paper and begin the process of laying out a plan.

Begin with the ultimate future goal and work backward toward the day you began the plan. Break down everything into smaller steps and establish some time lines for getting them done.

Once this is accomplished and you tackle the first step in the plan, you are well on your way and it then becomes a matter of action and focus.

Be patient, it will be a long journey but with a laser-like focus, success will come across the horizon some day.

So what about you, do you have a plan for success?

Keep Blogging!

I must confess as a born again atheist Zen Taoist type of person I have been very wu wei-ish about my blog, letting it takes a natural course, following the watercourse, flowing along naturally. But you are right, there comes a time when a framework has to be established and timelines created or else you risk drifting.

Six months or so properly into my blog and there’s á momentum going and that needs direction, guidance and a focus. Maybe a mind-mapping session is way overdue.

Jimi, thanks for the kick up the ass!

LOL – I too set sail initially without a chart. :-)
This likely happens quite a bit while bloggers are in the test drive stage. I knew all along that I was in for the long haul but had to make an adjustment or two as I went along.
