How to Customize Your Greet Box Plugin Messages to Enhance Your Brand

by Jimi Jones

While travelling around the internet checking out new blog sites, I often come across the following;

This is the default message that comes with the WP Greet Box Plugin, right out of the box. But why stop there and pass up an opportunity to enhance your brand?

If you are using this plugin, it can be customized in a matter of minutes by simply logging into your Dashboard area, going it “Settings” and clicking on the WP Greet Box link. You will land here.

Instead of “Welcome Googler! If you find this page useful, you might want to subscribe to the RSS feed for updates on this topic”, you may try something like “ Welcome to (Your Domain) Googler! We are happy to have you here. Please subscribe to the RSS feed for valuable updates on (Your Topic).

It’s a subtle change but one that’s different from the rest and reinforces your brand name. Be creative, be bold, be different. It’s the small things that often stand out, those attention to details that most others are not addressing.

Are you using this plugin and have you configured it in a way to help your brand? If not, what greets your first-time visitors?

Keep Blogging!

Why not grab the RSS while you are here?

    Plugins and widgets are a starting point and should be customized to mirror the blog or website they are on. I look forward to seeing yours updated. :)

    I have been having a nightmare with plugins recently and swore I'd stick to the ones I already have and not to add any more. But ….

    Great post Jimi. I get tired of seeing the same generic message 10 or 15 times a day. More people should read this and change their messages.

    Thanks, James.
    Generally, I don't think people even think about this once it's installed. It's out of sight out of mind. I agree with you, that same old message everywhere you go really just fades into the background, ignored by most.
