As we bloggers know, to survive in this craft you have to absolutely love what you’re doing. Without that burning passion, blogging will become just another job.

Hey, if I wanted a job I would have gotten a job. :-)

Having worked behind the scenes for several weeks on my latest project, I am now ready to launch. So without further delay, I announce to you: Jimi Jones Visuals.

The site was built to allow me to creatively express myself through the art of photography, specifically High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography. I will cover HDR as well as traditional digital photography techniques and hope that those of you who have an interest in this art form, will join me for the journey.

While some are happy with taking pictures, I like to create art. Nothing at all wrong with the former, but I definitely live in the camp of the latter. So, swing by when time allows and keep me a little company. :-)

 Hope to see you there!

As for this site, I will continue to post here several times weekly, although I’ve been slowed a bit of late. But it’s all good and we’ll be back to a regular schedule very soon.

A huge THANKS to you all for your continued support.

  2. Congrats on the site launch. I have a couple of questions about HDR.

    1. Is HDR just a high quality picture obtained with multiple exposures?
    2. I noticed my iPhone has an HDR mode. Is that any good?

    • Jimi Jones says:

      Hey Patrick.

Yes, HDR is the process by which multiple exposures are merged which provides a tremendous range of possibilities for the final rendering.

There are several HDR apps for the iPhone. Some do a fair job but none of those will match the process used by most HDR photographers. There are a couple you may want to check out if you haven’t already. iCamera HDR and 100 Cameras in 1 are really nice ones. They have a good number of presets that can enhance the images.

I’ve played around with about 4 or 5 of them but find these two to be among the best so far. Check them out and let me know what you think.

What have you used so far?

    Hi Jimi,

I’ve read some things on HDR a few weeks ago, it sounds like a lot of work. But the results are indeed amazing. And from what i’ve seen on your new website, you’re on the right track.
I know i’m new here, but you have my full support.

      Hi Maria and welcome!

Thanks so much for your support. That’s really cool. :-)
HDR, and photography in general is a lot of fun for me, so it’s never as much work when you enjoy what you’re doing. Like most things, you have to dive in and dedicate yourself.

I appreciate your kind words. :-)

    Wow Jimi.

I just took a look and I am very impressed. You are a talented individual.
Love the HDR one ( I commented on it so you know which one ;) ) although to be honest I liked them all.

Noticed you are using Platform Pro on that one.
Would love your honest review on it. I tried the test version and even though it was all drag and drop it makes you build all the frames first, and that was too confusing for me.
Am I an idiot or is it actually quite easyand I missed something?

Thanks Jimi, and awesome work – site looks great.

Thanks for the kind words, Alex.
I’m really excited about that site and the plans I’ll pursue with it.

There is a ton of drag & drop functionality in Platform Pro without having to build the framework. Depends on what you’re trying to accomplish. We’ll chat about it in greater detail real soon.

I’d like to hear what you have in mind.

“if I wanted a job I would have gotten a job.” – this is going to become one of my daily motivational mantras! Of course it can become unexciting at times, even if you love blogging. We are only human and sometimes we don’t feel like doing anything, even the stuff we love. What’s important is to always be able to summon the drive to go on when you are not as successful as you might have wished.

      Hi Mohammed.

You’re right, there are times when it can be tough rising to the task, but for the most part, as long as we can do something we really like, the journey will be that much easier.
