Successful blogs have been built on a common thread, passion.
What motivates you to blog on a consistent basis, is it the attraction of the internet, money or your passion? It could be none of these or all of these but whatever drives you to blog, passion had best be a part of the equation.
Without passion this whole blogging deal is just another job. It becomes a task that you will someday come to frown upon and find no motivation to continue.
Many are motivated by the possibility of making money while blogging, and that’s okay but for me, a more powerful motivator is the fact that I can help others improve their online experiences by making a positive contribution to the community as a whole. When you try to help others you help yourself as well. It’s the ultimate learning experience.
This has been my passion and when you are driven by passion, opportunity and money will flow your way. You see, there will be a disconnect when you blog for reasons other than those that you are passionate about.
If you don’t feel the love for what you are doing, why do it?
Blogging is a heck of a lot of work, so who needs it, if you aren’t feeling a strong draw, a burning desire to succeed and to build a digital empire, as my friend Nathan Hangen blogs about.
The internet is a fantastic vehicle for growth from an educational and business standpoint. But passion is what makes it all possible. It’s what drives you to meet the many challenges that will surely come. It brings all sorts of enthusiasm and creativity for what you are trying to accomplish.
One of the many reasons why blogs fail can be found at the entry point where many have started out chasing what they saw as a profitable niche, only to succumb to the many challenges presented in their quest to build an online business.
They thought it was easy
Thousands of bloggers arrive on the scene daily with thoughts of striking it rich. Thinking they can simply write blog posts and the hordes will arrive and buy some products often leads to disillusionment when this fails to materialize. It’s the primary reason to start out with a topic you are passionate about.
When you love what you are doing your perception of the required hard work is so much different. No longer does it feel like a task.
Consider what the marathoner must go through to train and prepare for those events. We’re talking hard work and dedication, but many do this without hesitation or reward. They just want to accomplish what few others can. It’s a sport that would never work for me, not because I’m lazy but because I don’t have the passion for long distance running.
I use this example because it relates to blogging in many ways. There is a good deal of training required, followed by lots and lots of hard work which eventually leads you to the reward you seek.
Passion breeds confidence
Passion is one of those positive emotions that comes from deep within. It’s what keeps you awake at night with anticipation. Often, you can hardly wait to return to what you are working on.
When your business is anchored by your passion and you wholeheartedly believe in what you are doing, success is simply a matter of time and no longer a question of if, but when.
You can feel it and you just know that if you continue on your current path you will arrive at that special place in your life.
Be driven
Allow yourself to be absolutely driven by your goals and passions. These should be the last thing you think about at night and the first thing you think about in the morning.
Have you written down your goals or a mission statement?
Look at it daily. It sounds like an overused cliché but this little exercise brings energy, drive and motivation. It’s what drives you to go that extra mile (like a marathoner).
You’ll find yourself writing content when your eyes are burning, researching a topic when you want to watch pro football, networking with your mastermind group on a Skype call when you could be having a seafood dinner. But it’s what drives you to be a successful business owner.
Your passion is a very powerful thing so tap into it at every opportunity. It drives you to want to learn more about everything associated with your business. You are compelled to expand your knowledge base and to become all that you can be.
Conclusion
I have the intense passion to blog and contribute to the business building efforts of others while building my own digital empire. It’s the reason I’ll be doing this for many years to come.
No matter what you do for a living, if you can tap into your passion by landing a job or starting a business doing what you want to do, things will usually be less stressful and much more enjoyable for your day to day work life.
Why is it then that so many end up on jobs that they despise, staying for many years while doing little if anything about changing their work environment?
Do we feel compelled to follow others in the same situation?
I don’t know the answer to those questions but I do know that when you follow your passion good things begin to happen, opportunities seem to materialize with your network of friends and business associates.
People like to see passion and the driven efforts of others and will gravitate toward those individuals they perceive are headed for success.
Tap into your passion and become a successful believer.

I agree, Robert.
Start with the passion, money will flow your way. When you concentrate only on the monetary aspects, you may tend to overlook the other things that make a nice community.
Build some relationships with people and have some fun.
